As one of England’s celebrated gold medallists at the Commonwealth Games 2018, it was a true honour to be asked by Netball player Eboni Beckford-Chambers to design her and her partner’s wedding stationery for their big day.
On meeting Eboni and John-King for the first time, there was one rule – no clichéd netball themes! Instead, the couple were after a stylish traditional look with a contemporary twist coupled with exquisite detailing and personalised finishes. They had chosen dark tones and copper for their theme and wanted to encompass this colour palette throughout their wedding stationery.
Although my husband and I knew we were after something extra special, we’d not anticipated quite how stunning our wedding stationery would be. Our floral logo is simply beautiful, and our guests were blown away with the bespoke folder we sent out, each containing their own personalised and copper foiled invites and inserts! Having the order or service, menu cards and place names produced along with our cake topper was something we’d not thought about and our guests commented on how amazing everything looked on the day. Thanks so much again Phil and Madeleine!
As with all our bespoke wedding stationery packages, the first element to be designed was Eboni and John-King’s logo. With their theme in mind, we hand designed a motif that delicately interwove the couple’s initials ‘EJK’ into an ornate floral pattern. This logo along with subtle floral features would be used throughout all their stationery to create a consistent brand and tie everything together.
A striking die cut folder was next created to house their invites/inserts. Featuring the EJK logo, a self-sealing flap and the couple’s names, the folder was produced in British racing green to contrast the copper foiled details, creating a luxurious and contemporary look. On opening the folders, the white invites/inserts would be revealed, contrasting against the dark green folder and when removed would reveal the copper outline of a Nigerian map on the inside of the folder. This detail was added a nod to John-King’s Nigerian family whose home province of Akwa Ibom was marked in solid copper.
The wedding inserts would comprise of a separate day and evening invitation along with three double sided cards with details on times, accommodation, travel and useful information. Each day and evening invite would be personalised with the guest’s name(s) and copper foiled along with a personalised and pre-addressed RSVP card, ready to be ticked and returned by post. As an extra for guests required at the rehearsal service, a separate insert card was made.
For on-the-day items, a stunning order of service was produced complete with a copper foiled cover and 12-page inner booklet. Continuing the theme from the church to the reception, personalised and copper foiled place names were created along with a menu and thank you cards to adorn the table. Each table would also have its own copper place name card.
The last detail would be a laser cut copper cake topper featuring Eboni and John-King’s floral logo – a stunning touch to complete their wedding stationery package.
